Your Chamber was first established as a Business Organization in 1911 with Mr. M. Barshay as President. On December 23, 1970, The State of South Carolina issued a Certificate of Incorporation to The Summerville Chamber of Commerce, the purpose of which was to advance the commercial, industrial and civic interest of the Town of Summerville and its trade area. Mr. Thomas W. Myers was President.
Today, the name of the Chamber is
Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce. We support membership of more than 800 businesses and non-profits of all sizes.
In 2011 your Chamber grew by 35% due to a state record breaking membership drive. Our community is energized and aware of the value the Chamber brings to bear.
