$10 Adoptions and Letters to Future Adopers

Danielle Zuck • May 20, 2022

Friday May 20th through Sunday May 22nd, all adoptable animals will be $10

Since January, Dorchester Paws has taken in 1,227 animals (545 dogs and 682 cats). The influx of animals coming through our doors is largely due to owner surrenders, strays and abandoned dogs and cats. Right now, our dogs are averaging longer lengths of stay on campus with the average being around 27 days that they are living in a kennel before being adopted. Unfortunately, though, there are animals like Cynthia and Ember, who have been at Dorchester Paws for more than 150 days.

When students in the Pinewood Plus group at Pinewood Prep School and the 6th grade class at Trinity Classical Academy heard of how full Dorchester Paws has been, they wanted to help. The students decided the best way to help these animals get more exposure was to write letters to the dogs and cats future adopters letting them know how amazing they are. These letters will be hung on the kennels of the animals for potential adopters to read.

Starting Friday May 20th through Sunday May 22nd, all adoptable animals will be $10. Puppies and kittens are excluded. All interested adopters should come down to Dorchester Paws between 12-5 p.m. All of these animals mentioned and those on our adoption floor are microchipped, fully vetted, on monthly preventatives, spayed or neutered and are vaccinated.

Featured letters and animals:

Ember

·         This amazing girl has been in our care for 149 days. She has been to the beach, to media appearances, out on dates, to the trailhead and almost everywhere else. Ember can be around other dogs, and really is hoping her adopters are looking for her right now.

Rusty

·         Rusty came to Dorchester Paws with a severe case of mange. Since that day he has been in foster care for a little over 122 days healing and getting the love he so badly deserved. While in foster care, he has learned commands in German and the hair on his body is growing back. This 10-year-old love is ready for a home to call his own.

Paw-Casso

·         A happy go lucky boy who is around five-years-old. Paw-Casso has been in our care for 83 days and deserves to call a bed a home vs. a kennel. He prefers all the attention, so best to be the only dog in the home.

Eeyore

·         A sweet and gentle six-year-old, who is used to living in a home. Eeyore has been in our care for 76 days, and prefers a quiet home to thrive in. He will be the perfect companion.

Mr. Paddington

·         A fun, energetic and loving four-year-old, who does well in a car and loves to be around people. Mr. Paddington is house trained, knows his commands, has lived with kids and is good with other dogs and cats. He’s been on campus for 43 days.

Nani

·         Nani is part of our self-supportive rehoming program. She is currently in a home, but is looking for one that will better suit her. Nani is a 7-year-old Calico who loves her people. She would do best in a quiet adult home that is less stressful. Nani would love to play with toys, lay in bed with you and sunbathe during most of her days.

Willie

·         Willie is newer to Dorchester Paws but is being treated for heartworms as well as some skin infection on his paws. He is a loving sweet boy who is going to need a home to allow him to heal and be his best self.
