The Chamber promotes the idea of an educated workforce by supporting local educational institutes while acting as liaison between the Industrial community in our region and our local schools.  The Chamber also focuses on regional partnership initiatives that have an impact on workforce and Education.

Through the Chamber’s LEADERSHIP DORCHESTER program we build awareness of our place in the community/region and develop strong leaders of tomorrow.  LEADERSHIP DORCHESTER emphasizes diversity and develops proactive, forward-thinking leaders that can identify and offer unique solutions to specific community issues. The primary objective is to increase awareness, knowledge, and understanding of the region’s economy and community networks while developing the future community and political leaders of Dorchester County.  

In an effort to continually improve upon academic excellence in Dorchester County, the Chamber and our LEADERSHIP DORCHESTER program is proud to have been the driving force behind bringing Franklin Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People Leader In Me program to Summerville Elementary School in 2009 – making it the first Leadership School in the State of South Carolina. The Chamber has also supported the expansion of the Leader in Me program not only in Newington and Knightsville Elementary Schools, but throughout both school Districts in Dorchester County. In addition, the LEADERSHIP DORCHESTER program has championed the CHEFS (Culinary and Horticultural Education for Students) at Alston Middle School.

The Chamber is also proud to be the host of Franklin Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People Signature Training for the second year in a row in an effort to help businesses achieve continued success by fostering effective leadership skills in the workforce in our region.
