Donations to Pinewood exceed Giving Day goal

On November 9, 2021, Pinewood hosted its first Giving Day. Parents, grandparents,

alumni, and even students donated to show their panther pride and support their school.

The stakes were high as the grade that raised the most would be treated to a pizza

party.

The initial challenge was to raise $50,000 as each dollar up to $50,000 would be

matched by an anonymous donor. That goal was absolutely smashed with a total of

$87,858 raised. One hundred percent of Pinewood’s full-time faculty and staff also

participated and raised an additional $24,550. The grand total for Giving Day, including

the match, was $162,408.

One fifth grade student, An Nguyen, said, “I love Pinewood so much. I want to give my

own money with my mother’s donation.”

In order to make Pinewood accessible, the cost of tuition does not cover the full

operating costs for the year, and philanthropy plays a major role. The impact of these

donations is indescribable as each and every dollar helps every student in every

classroom, every day.

Pinewood is an independent college preparatory school dedicated to academic

excellence and character development in Summerville. Through the core values of risk,

truth, and exploration, the School enriches the community - locally and globally.
