Dorchester Paws Continues Calls for Support

August 13, 2021

Availability of Shelter Space Remains Dangerously Full

You may have heard, but all of South Carolina's animal shelters are bursting at the seams, including Dorchester Paws.  In the last week No Kill South Carolina 2024 has heard from 14 different communities that are in dire circumstances with shelter overcrowding. As of Monday, August 9th, Dorchester Paws filled it's last kennel and was operating at full capacity. Despite a community wide foster and adoption plea, we had just seven dogs leave campus, but eight came in! We are taking in more animals than we can safely get out of the shelter. After running a week of "Name your own Price," adoption special, the shelter is still full.

We are urging all supporters to please help spread the urgent message that we need help!

Ways to support the efforts of Dorchester Paws:

Adopt: If you are looking to add to your family, now is the time! View our adoptable animals at https://dorchesterpaws.org/adopt/

Foster: If you can provide a temporary home, if only for just 1 week, please come to the shelter and ask to foster. We are here until 5PM. We will supply the kennels, food, bowls, leash and toys. You just have to provide the space! Have questions? Email [email protected]

Donate: Our campus is FULL, and as you would expect, our supply inventory is quickly depleting. If you are able and willing to donate, head on over to our Amazon Wishlist or donate funds to help us care for our animals today. https://dorchesterpaws.org/give-today/

Volunteer: We are accepting new volunteers at this time.  Training will be on August 22nd from 1:00-2:00 PM at the campus.  This training will review how to process off-site adoptions.  You will be able to volunteer at our fun adoption events, such as Puppypalooza and others.  Sign up is required to attend.  Please email [email protected] to confirm your space.
