All awards are judged by a panel of Chamber of Commerce professionals located outside of the Tri-County area.  None of the panelists know the applicants.

The Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce’s Business of the Year award program is designed to recognize the dedication, achievement and entrepreneurial spirit displayed by exceptional local businesses.


Nonprofit of the Year

The Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce’s Nonprofit of the Year award program is designed to recognize the dedication, achievement and philanthropic spirit displayed by exceptional local non-profits. 


Trailblazer of the Year - Nominations

This award will go to an outstanding female leader in her industry. The recipient will be courageous, innovative, and passionate. This person will have blazed a trail in her industry for the women in business behind her. 


Emerging Leader of the Year - Nominations

This award was designed to celebrate a young professional who is making an impact within their company and industry as a whole. They have distinguished themselves as a future leader, exemplifying innovative thinking, team work and community engagement.


Volunteer of the Year - Nominations

This award is given to someone that has given of their time and talents to the betterment of the Summerville and Dorchester County area through volunteerism with service, civic, charitable, and/or religious organizations. 


Berlin G. Myers Lifetime Achievement Award

The Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce’s Berlin G. Myers Lifetime Achievement Award is named after one of Summerville’s most distinguished and influential individuals, former Mayor Berlin George Myers, who demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities and used his skills to make the Town of Summerville a better place for all. Impeccable character, leadership ability, honesty, integrity, passion and success are just a few words that describe our former Mayor.


In 2008, this award was created by the Chamber’s Board of Directors as a way to recognize and honor Mr. Myers for his steadfast leadership and zealous community stewardship.The Berlin G. Myers Lifetime Achievement Award is given in his honor to an outstanding volunteer demonstrating a lifetime of leadership in the Greater Summerville/Dorchester County area. To be considered for this award, candidates must have demonstrated leadership through their part in a major initiative or project, the Summerville business community, service, civic or charitable organizations, and church, fraternal or religious organizations. The recipient must have also engaged in other major citizenship activities at the local, state or national levels. 


This award is given by the Chamber Board of Directors and is not open for application or nomination.

Service Area

The Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce service area has no specific boundaries. Any company that is either located or has a business presence within the greater Summerville or Dorchester areas are invited and encouraged to be a part of the Chamber.
